PSALM 141

1יהוה, I have cried out to You; Hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.

2Let my prayer be prepared before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

3O יהוה, set a guard for my mouth; Watch over the door of my lips.

4Let not my heart be inclined to evil, To practise deeds of wrongness With men working wickedness, And let me not eat of their delicacies.

5Let the righteous one smite me Or reprove me in kindness – It is oil on my head. Let my head not refuse it. My prayer is still against their evil deeds.

6Their judges have been thrown down By the sides of the rock, But they have heard my words, For they have been pleasant.

7Our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, As when one ploughs and breaks up the earth.

8But my eyes are upon You, O Master יהוה. In You I take refuge; Do not pour out my life.

9Guard me from the clutches Of the trap they have laid for me, And from the snares Of the workers of wickedness.

10Let the wrong fall into their own nets, While I pass by.

PSALM 142

1I cry out to יהוה with my voice; I pray to יהוה with my voice.

2I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my distress.

3When my spirit grew faint within me, Then You know my path. In the way in which I walk They have hidden a trap for me.

4Look to the right hand and see, And no one is concerned for me; No refuge remains to me; No one inquires after my being.

5I cried out to You, O יהוה: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.

6“Listen to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.

7“Bring my being out of prison, To give thanks to Your Name. Let the righteous gather around me, Because You deal kindly with me.”

PSALM 143

1Hear my prayer, O יהוה, Give ear to my pleadings In Your trustworthiness. Answer me in Your righteousness.

2And do not enter into right-ruling with Your servant, For before You no one living is in the right.

3For the enemy has pursued my being; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, Like the dead of old.

4Therefore my spirit grew faint within me, My heart within me is stunned.

5I remembered the days of old; I meditated on all Your works; I ponder on the work of Your hands.

6I have spread out my hands to You; My being is like a thirsty land for You. Selah.

7Hasten, answer me, O יהוה; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those going down into the pit.

8Let me hear Your kindness in the morning, For in You I have put my trust; Let me know the way in which I should walk, For I have lifted up my being to You.

9Deliver me from my enemies, O יהוה; I take refuge in You.

10Teach me to do Your good pleasure, For You are my Elohim. Let Your good Spirit lead me In the land of straightness.

11For the sake of Your Name, O יהוה, revive me! In Your righteousness, Bring my being out of distress.

12And in Your kindness, Cut off my enemies. And destroy all the adversaries of my life, For I am Your servant!

PSALM 144

1Blessed be יהוה my Rock, Who is teaching my hands for fighting, My fingers for battle;

2My kindness and my stronghold, My tower and my deliverer, My shield, and in whom I take refuge, Who is subduing peoples under me.

3יהוה, what is man, that You should know him? Son of man, that You should think of him?

4Man is like a breath, His days like a passing shadow.

5Incline Your heavens, O יהוה, and come down; Touch the mountains that they smoke.

6Send forth lightning and scatter them, Send forth Your arrows and confuse them.

7Send forth Your hand from above; Rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, From the hand of foreigners,

8Whose mouth has spoken falsehood, And whose right hand is a right hand of lies.

9O Elohim, a new song I sing to You; On a harp of ten strings I sing praises to You,

10Who gives deliverance to sovereigns, Who rescues Dawiḏ His servant From the evil sword.

11Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners, Whose mouth has spoken falsehood, And whose right hand is a right hand of lies;

12Because our sons are like plants Grown up in their youth; Our daughters like hewn stones, Polished, like a palace building;

13Let our storehouses be filled, Supplying all kinds; Let our sheep bring forth thousands And ten thousands in our fields;

14Our cattle well-laden; No breaking in, no going out; And no crying in our streets.

15Blessed are the people who have it so; Blessed are the people whose Elohim is יהוה!

PSALM 145

1I exalt You, my Elohim, O Sovereign; And bless Your Name forever and ever.

2All day long I bless You, And praise Your Name forever and ever.

3Great is יהוה, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.

4Generation after generation praise Your works, And they declare Your mighty acts.

5I declare the esteemed splendour of Your excellency, And the matters of Your wondrous works.

6And they speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I recount Your greatness.

7They send forth the remembrance of Your great goodness, And they sing of Your righteousness.

8יהוה shows favour and is compassionate, Patient and great in kindness.

9יהוה is good to all, And He has compassion on all His works.

10All Your works give thanks to You, O יהוה, And Your kind ones bless You.

11They speak of the esteem of Your reign, And talk of Your might,

12To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, And the esteemed splendour of His reign.

13Your reign is an everlasting reign, And Your rule is throughout all generations.

14יהוה is supporting all who are falling, And raising up all who are bowed down.

15The eyes of all look to You expectantly, And You are giving them their food in its season,

16Opening Your hand and satisfying The desire of all that live.

17יהוה is righteous in all His ways, And kind in all His works.

18יהוה is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

19He does the desire of those who fear Him; And He hears their cry and saves them.

20יהוה preserves all those loving Him, But all the wrong ones He destroys.

21My mouth speaks the praise of יהוה, And let all flesh bless His set-apart Name, Forever and ever.

PROVERBS 29

1One often reproved, hardening his neck, Is suddenly broken, and there is no healing.

2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; But when a wrong one rules, the people sigh.

3He who loves wisdom gladdens his father, But a companion of whores destroys wealth.

4A sovereign establishes a land by right-ruling, But one who receives bribes throws it down.

5A man who flatters his neighbour Spreads a net for his own feet.

6An evil man is ensnared by transgression, But the righteous sings and rejoices.

7The righteous knows the plea of the poor, The wrong does not understand such knowledge.

8Scoffers ensnare a city, But the wise turn away wrath.

9When a wise man disputes with a foolish man, Whether he rages or laughs, there is no peace.

10Bloodthirsty men hate the perfect, And seek the life of the straight.

11A fool lets out all his breath, But the wise calms it down.

12If a ruler listens to lying words, All his servants become wrong.

13The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: יהוה gives light to the eyes of both.

14The sovereign who rightly rules the poor with truth, His throne is established forever.

15A rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child unrestrained brings shame to his mother.

16When the wrong become many, transgression increases; But the righteous look on their fall.

17Discipline your son, And he brings you rest and delight to your life.

18Where there is no vision, the people are let loose, But blessed is he who guards the Torah.

19A servant is not disciplined by words; Though he understands, he does not respond.

20Have you seen a man hasty in his words? There is more expectancy for a fool than for him.

21He who deals tenderly With his servant from youth, Has him as a son in the end.

22A man of displeasure stirs up strife, And a master of rage has many a transgression.

23The pride of man brings him low, But the humble in spirit obtains esteem.

24He who shares with a thief hates his own life; He hears an oath, but does not report.

25The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in יהוה is set on high.

26Many seek the face of a ruler, But right-ruling for man comes from יהוה.

27An unrighteous man Is an abomination to the righteous, And he who is straight in the way Is an abomination to the wrong.
