1Praise Yah! I thank יהוה with all my heart, In the company of the straight, and of the congregation.
2Great are the works of יהוה, Searched for by all who delight in them.
3Splendour and greatness are His work, And His righteousness stands forever.
4He has made His wonders to be remembered; יהוה shows favour and is compassionate.
5He has given food to those who fear Him; He remembers His covenant forever.
6He has shown His people the power of His works, To give to them the inheritance of the gentiles.
7The works of His hands are truth and right-ruling, All His orders are trustworthy,
8They are upheld forever and ever, Performed in truth and straightness.
9He sent redemption to His people, He has commanded His covenant forever. Set-apart and awesome is His Name.
10The fear of יהוה is the beginning of wisdom, All those doing them have a good understanding. His praise is standing forever.
1Praise Yah! Blessed is the man, Who fears יהוה, Who has greatly delighted in His commands.
2Mighty in the earth shall be his seed, The generation of the straight ones shall be blessed.
3Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness is standing forever.
4Light has risen in the darkness to the straight ones, Those showing favour, The compassionate, And the righteous.
5Good is a man showing favour and lending, He sustains his matters in right-ruling.
6For he is never shaken; The righteous is remembered forever.
7He is not afraid of an evil report. His heart is steadfast, trusting in יהוה.
8His heart is upheld, he is not afraid, While he looks on his adversaries.
9He scattered abroad, He gave to the poor, His righteousness is standing forever. His horn is exalted with esteem.
10The wrong one sees it and shall be vexed; He gnashes his teeth and shall melt. The desire of the wrong ones does perish.
1Praise Yah! Praise, O servants of יהוה, Praise the Name of יהוה!
2Blessed be the Name of יהוה, Now and forever!
3From the rising of the sun to its going down, The Name of יהוה is praised.
4יהוה is high above all nations, His esteem above the heavens.
5Who is like יהוה our Elohim, Who is enthroned on high?
6He looks down on the heavens and in the earth;
7He raises the poor out of the dust, Lifts the needy from a dunghill,
8To make him sit with the nobles, With the nobles of His people,
9Causing the barren woman to dwell in a house, A rejoicing mother of children. Praise Yah!
1When Yisra’ĕl went out of Mitsrayim, The house of Ya‛aqoḇ from a people of strange language,
2Yehuḏah became His set-apart place, And Yisra’ĕl His rule.
3The sea saw it and fled; The Yardĕn turned back.
4The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs.
5Why was it, O sea, that you fled? O Yardĕn, that you turned back?
6O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs?
7Tremble, O earth, from the face of the Master, From the face of the Eloah of Ya‛aqoḇ,
8Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of water.
1Not to us, O יהוה, not to us, But to Your Name give esteem, For Your kindness, For Your truth.
2Why should the gentiles say, “Where now is their Elohim?”
3But our Elohim is in the heavens; Whatever pleased Him, He has done.
4Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands.
5They have mouths, but they do not speak; They have eyes, but they do not see;
6They have ears, but they do not hear; They have noses, but they do not smell;
7They have hands, but they do not handle; They have feet, but they do not walk; They make no sound through their throat.
8The ones who make them, shall become like them – All who trust in them.
9O Yisra’ĕl, trust in יהוה; He is their help and their shield.
10O house of Aharon, trust in יהוה; He is their help and their shield.
11You who fear יהוה, trust in יהוה; He is their help and their shield.
12יהוה has remembered us; He blesses us; He blesses the house of Yisra’ĕl; He blesses the house of Aharon.
13He blesses those who fear יהוה, The small and the great.
14יהוה give you increase more and more, You and your children.
15You are blessed by יהוה, Who made the heavens and earth.
16The heavens are the heavens of יהוה; But He has given the earth to the children of men.
17The dead do not praise Yah, Nor any going down to silence.
18But we, we bless Yah Now and forever. Praise Yah!
1When you sit down to eat with a ruler, Look well what is before you;
2And put a knife to your throat If you are a man given to appetite.
3Do not desire his delicacies, For that food is deceptive.
4Do not labour to be rich. Cease from your own understanding!
5Do you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle to the heavens.
6Do not eat the bread of one having an evil eye, Nor desire his delicacies;
7For as he reckons in his life, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
8You vomit the piece you have eaten, And lose your sweet words.
9Do not speak in the ears of a fool, For he treads on the wisdom of your words.
10Do not move the ancient boundary, And do not enter the fields of the fatherless;
11For their Redeemer is strong; He shall plead their cause against you.
12Bring your heart to discipline, And your ears to words of knowledge.
13Do not withhold discipline from a child; If you beat him with a rod, he does not die.
14Beat him with a rod And deliver his being from the grave.
15My son, if your heart shall be wise, My heart rejoices, even I,
16And my kidneys exult When your lips speak what is straight.
17Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be in the fear of יהוה all day long;
18For certain, there is a hereafter, And let your expectancy not be cut off.
19Hear, my son, and be wise, And guide your heart in the way.
20Be not among heavy drinkers of wine Or with gluttonous eaters of meat;
21For the drunkard and the glutton become poor, And slumber puts rags on a man.
22Listen to your father who brought you forth, And do not despise your mother when she is old.
23Buy the truth and do not sell it – Wisdom and discipline and understanding.
24The father of the righteous greatly rejoices, And he who brings forth a wise one delights in him.
25Let your father and your mother rejoice, And let her who bore you exult.
26My son, give me your heart, And let your eyes watch my ways.
27For a whore is a deep pit, And a strange woman is a narrow well.
28She too lies in wait as for a prey, And increases the treacherous among men.
29Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who feels hurt without cause? Who has redness of eyes?
30Those staying long at the wine, Those going in to search out mixed wine.
31Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it gives its colour in the cup, As it flows smoothly;
32In the end it bites like a snake, And stings like an adder –
33Your eyes look on strange women, And your heart speaks perversities.
34And you shall be as one Lying down in the midst of the sea, And as one lying at the top of the mast, saying,
35“They smote me, I was not sick! They beat me, I did not know! When shall I wake up? Let me seek it again!”
