1In Yehuḏah Elohim is known; His Name is great in Yisra’ĕl.
2And His booth is in Shalĕma, And His dwelling place in Tsiyon.
3There He broke the arrows of the bow, The shield and the sword and the battle-axe. Selah.
4You are resplendent, More excellent than mountains of prey.
5The stout-hearted have been stripped; They slept their sleep; And none of the mighty men have found their hands.
6At Your rebuke, O Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, Both the rider and horse lay stunned.
7You, You are to be feared; And who would stand in Your presence When You are displeased?
8From heaven You shall cause judgment to be heard; The earth shall fear, and shall be still,
9When Elohim arises to right-ruling, To save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
10For the wrath of mankind praises You, With the remainder of wrath You gird Yourself!
11Make vows to יהוה your Elohim, and pay them. Let all who are around Him bring presents To the One to be feared.
12He cuts off the spirit of leaders, He is awesome to the sovereigns of the earth!
1My voice is to Elohim, and I cry; My voice is to Elohim, and He listened to me.
2In the day of my distress I sought יהוה; My hand was stretched out in the night And it did not cease, My being refused to be comforted.
3I remembered Elohim, and groaned; I complained, and my spirit grew faint. Selah.
4You ceased the watches of my eyes, I was too troubled to speak.
5I have thought about the days of old, The years long past.
6I remember my song in the night, I meditate within my heart, And my spirit searches diligently.
7Would יהוה reject forever, And never again be pleased?
8Has His kindness ceased forever, Has the promise failed for all generations?
9Has Ěl forgotten to show favour? Has He shut up His compassions in displeasure? Selah.
10And I said, “This is my grief: That the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
11I remember the deeds of Yah, For I remember Your wonders of old.
12And I shall meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.
13Your way, O Elohim, is in Set-apartnessa; Who is a great Ěl like Elohim?
14You are the Ěl who does wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.
15By Your arm You have redeemed Your people, The sons of Ya‛aqoḇ and Yosĕph. Selah.
16The waters saw You, O Elohim; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled.
17The clouds poured out water; The heavens rumbled; Also, Your arrows flashed back and forth.
18The voice of Your thunder rolled along; Lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook.
19Your way was in the sea, And Your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were not known.
20You did lead Your people like a flock By the hand of Mosheh and Aharon.
1My people, give ear to my Toraha, Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I open my mouth in a parable; I utter riddles of old,
3Which we have heard and known, For our fathers have related them to us.
4We do not hide them from their children, Relating to the generation to come the praises of יהוה, And His strength and His wonders which He has done.
5For He raised a witness in Ya‛aqoḇ, And set a Torah in Yisra’ĕl, Which He commanded our fathers, To teach them to their children;
6That it might be known to a generation to come, To children who would be born, To rise up and relate them to their children,
7And place their trust in Elohim, And not forget the works of Ěl, But watch over His commands,
8And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation which did not prepare its heart, Whose spirit was not steadfast to Ěl.
9The children of Ephrayim, armed bowmen, Turned back in the day of battle.
10They did not guard the covenant of Elohim, And they refused to walk in His Torah,
11And they forgot His deeds And His wonders which He had shown them.
12He did wonders in the sight of their fathers, In the land of Mitsrayim, in the field of Tso‛an.
13He split the sea and caused them to pass through, And He made the waters stand up like a heap,
14And led them with the cloud by day, And all the night with a light of fire.
15He split the rocks in the wilderness, And made them drink, as from the great depths,
16And brought forth streams from the rock, And caused waters to come down as rivers.
17Yet they sinned still more against Him To rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18And they tried Ěl in their heart By asking food according to their desire.
19And they spoke against Elohim. They said, “Is Ěl able to set a table in the wilderness?
20“Look, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Is He able to give bread also? Would He provide meat for His people?”
21Therefore יהוה heard, and He was wroth; So a fire was kindled against Ya‛aqoḇ, And displeasure also came up against Yisra’ĕl,
22Because they did not believe in Elohim, Neither did they trust in His deliverance.
23Yet He had commanded the clouds above, And opened the doors of the heavens,
24And He rained down manna on them to eat, And He gave them the grain of the heavens.
25Men ate bread of the mighty; He sent them provisions to satisfaction.
26He made an east wind blow in the heavens; And by His power He brought in the south wind.
27And He rained meat on them like the dust, And winged birds like the sand of the seas,
28And let them fall in the midst of His camp, All around His Dwelling Place.
29So they ate and were completely satisfied, For He brought them what they desired.
30They had not turned away from their desire, Their food was still in their mouths,
31When the wrath of Elohim came against them, And He slew among their fat ones, And He struck down the choice ones of Yisra’ĕl.
32In spite of all this they still sinned, And did not believe in His wonders.
33So He ended their days in a breath, And their years in trouble.
34When He slew them, then they sought Him, And they returned and did earnestly seek Ěl.
35And they remembered that Elohim was their rock, And the Most High Ěl their redeemer.
36But they flattered Him with their mouth, And they lied to Him with their tongue,
37For their heart was not steadfast with Him, And they were not true to His covenant.
38But He, the Compassionate One, Pardoned crookedness, And did not destroy them. And many a time He turned His displeasure away, And did not stir up all His wrath.
39For He remembered that they were but flesh, A passing breath that does not return.
40How often they rebelled against Him in the wilderness, And grieved Him in the desert!
41And again and again they tried Ěl, And provoked the Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl.
42They did not remember His hand, The day when He redeemed them from the adversary,
43How He worked His signs in Mitsrayim, And His wonders in the field of Tso‛an.
44He turned their rivers into blood, And they could not drink their streams.
45He sent among them swarms of flies which devoured them, And frogs which destroyed them,
46And gave their crops to the caterpillar, And their labour to the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, And their sycamore trees with frost,
48And gave their beasts over to the hail, And their livestock to bolts of fire.
49He sent on them the burning of His displeasure, Wrath, and rage, and distress, A deputation of messengers of evils.
50He made a path for His displeasure; He did not spare their being from death, But gave their life over to the plague.
51And He smote all the first-born in Mitsrayim, The first-fruits of strength in the tents of Ḥam,
52Then made His own people go forth like sheep, And led them in the wilderness like a flock.
53And He led them on safely, And they did not fear, But the sea covered their enemies.
54And He brought them to the border of His set-apart place, This mountain which His right hand had gained,
55And drove out nations before them, And allotted them a measured inheritance, And made the tribes of Yisra’ĕl dwell in their tents.
56Yet they tried and rebelled Against the Most High Elohim, And did not guard His witnesses,
57But they turned back And acted treacherously like their fathers; They twisted like a treacherous bow.
58For they enraged Him with their high places, And moved Him to jealousy with their carved images.
59When Elohim heard this, He was wroth, And greatly despised Yisra’ĕl,
60And He left the Dwelling Place of Shiloh, The Tent which He had set up among men.
61And He gave His strengtha into captivity, And His comelinessb into the hand of the adversary.
62And He gave His people over to the sword, And He was wroth with His inheritance.
63His young men were consumed by fire, And His maidens were not praised.
64His priests fell by the sword, And their widows could not weep.
65Then יהוה awoke as one asleep, As a mighty man who shouts because of wine.
66And He smote His adversaries backward, He put them to an everlasting reproach.
67Then He rejected the tent of Yosĕph, And did not choose the tribe of Ephrayim,
68But chose the tribe of Yehuḏah, Mount Tsiyon, which He loved.
69And He built His set-apart place like the heights, Like the earth He founded it forever.
70And He chose Dawiḏ His servant, And took him from the sheepfolds;
71He brought him in from tending the ewes, To shepherd Ya‛aqoḇ His people, And Yisra’ĕl His inheritance.
72And he shepherded them According to the integrity of his heart, And led them by the skill of his hands.
1O Elohim, the gentilesa have come into Your inheritance; They have defiled Your set-apart Hĕḵal; They turned Yerushalayim into ruins.
2They have given the dead bodies of Your servants As food for the birds of the heavens, The flesh of Your kind ones to the wild beast of the earth.
3They have poured out their blood Like water all around Yerushalayim, With no one to bury them.
4We have become a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a mockery to those who are around us.
5How long, O יהוה, Would You be enraged forever? Would Your jealousy burn like fire?
6Pour out Your wrath on the gentiles Who have not known You, And on reigns that have not called on Your Name.
7For they have devoured Ya‛aqoḇ, And laid waste his pasture.
8Do not remember against us The crookednesses of the fathers! Let Your compassion speedily meet us, For we have been greatly weakened.
9Help us, O Elohim of our deliverance, For the sake of the esteem of Your Name. And deliver us, and cover over our sins, For Your Name’s sake!
10Why should the gentiles say, “Where is their Elohim?” Let the vengeance of the outpoured blood of Your servants Be known among the gentiles, Before our eyes.
11Let the groaning of the prisoner come before You. According to the greatness of Your arm Preserve those appointed to death.
12And repay to our neighbours sevenfold Their reproach, into their bosom, With which they have reproached You, O יהוה.
13And we, Your people and the sheep of Your pasture, We give thanks to You forever; From generation to generation we show forth Your praise.
1Give ear, O Shepherd of Yisra’ĕl, Who lead Yosĕph like a flock; Who dwell between the keruḇim, shine forth!
2Before Ephrayim, Binyamin, and Menashsheh, Stir up Your might, And come and save us!
3Cause us to turn back, O Elohim, And cause Your face to shine, That we might be saved!
4O יהוה Elohim of hosts, How long shall You be wroth Against the prayer of Your people?
5You have caused them to eat the bread of tears, And have caused them to drink With tears, a third time.
6You have made us a strife to our neighbours, And our enemies laugh among themselves.
7Turn us back, O Elohim of hosts, And cause Your face to shine, That we might be saved!
8You brought a vine out of Mitsrayim; You drove out the nations, and planted it.
9You cleared a place for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land.
10Hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its twigs.
11She spread her branches to the Sea, And her shoots to the River.
12Why have You broken down her hedges, So that every passer-by plucked her fruit?
13The boar out of the forest ravages it, And the wild beast of the field devours it.
14Return, we beg You, O Elohim of hosts; Look down from heaven, and see, And visit this vine,
15And the stock which Your right hand has planted, And the Son whom You made strong for Yourself.
16It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your face.
17Let Your hand be upon the One at Your right hand, Upon the Son of Aḏam whom You made strong for Yourself,
18And we shall not backslide from You. Revive us, and let us call upon Your Name.
19Turn us back, O יהוה Elohim of hosts, And cause Your face to shine, That we might be saved!
1To man belongs the preparations of the heart, But from יהוה is the answer of the tongue.
2All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, But יהוה weighs the spirits.
3Commit your works to יהוה, And your plans shall be established.
4יהוה has made all for His purpose, And also the wrong for the day of evil.
5Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to יהוה; Hand to hand: he goes not unpunished.
6By kindness and truth crookedness is pardoned. And in the fear of יהוה one turns away from evil.
7When a man’s ways please יהוה, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8Better is a little with righteousness, Than a large income without right-ruling.
9A man’s heart plans his way, But יהוה establishes his steps.
10An oath is on the lips of the sovereign, In right-ruling his mouth trespasses not.
11A right scale and balances are of יהוה; All the weights in the bag are His work.
12It is an abomination for sovereigns To commit wrongness, For a throne is established by righteousness.
13Righteous lips are the delight of sovereigns, And they love him who speaks what is straight.
14The sovereign’s wrath is a messenger of death, But a wise man appeases it.
15In the light of a sovereign’s face is life, And his delight is like a cloud of the latter rain.
16How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is preferable to silver.
17The highway of the straight Is to turn away from evil; He who guards his life watches over His way.
18Before destruction comes pride, And before a fall a haughty spirit!
19Better to be lowly in spirit with the poor, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20He who acts wisely concerning the Word finds good, And blessed is he who trusts in יהוה.
21The wise-hearted is called discerning, And sweetness of lips increases learning.
22Understanding is a fountain of life to him who has it, But the disciplining of fools is folly.
23The heart of the wise gives discretion to his mouth, And he increases learning to his lips.
24Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweet to the being, and healing to the bones.
25There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of deatha.
26He who labours, labours for himself, For his mouth drives him on.
27A man of Beliya‛al plots evil, And on his lips it is like a burning fire.
28A perverse man sends forth strife, And a whisperer separates intimate friends.
29A ruthless man entices his neighbour, And leads him in a way that is not good,
30Winking with his eye to plot perversity, Moving his lips he shall bring about evil.
31Grey hair is a crown of adorning, It is found in the way of righteousness.
32He who is patient is better than the mighty, And he who rules over his spirit than he who takes a city.
33The lot is cast into the lap, But every decision by it is from יהוה.
