1In You, O יהוה, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed.
2In Your righteousness deliver and rescue me; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
3Be to me a rock to dwell in, To go into continually. You have given the command to save me, For You are my rock and my stronghold.
4Rescue me, O my Elohim, Out of the hand of the wrong, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel.
5For You are my expectation, Master יהוה, my Trust from my youth.
6Upon You I have leaned from my birth; You took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of You.
7I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.
8My mouth is filled with Your praise, Your splendour, all the day.
9Do not cast me off in the time of old age, When my strength fails, do not forsake me.
10For my enemies have spoken against me. And those who watch for my life Have taken counsel together,
11Saying, “Elohim has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is no one to deliver.”
12O Elohim, do not be far from me; My Elohim, hasten to my help!
13Let those who are adversaries of my life Be ashamed, consumed, Let those who seek my evil Be covered with reproach and confusion.
14But I continually wait, And shall praise You more and more.
15My mouth recounts Your righteousness Your deliverance all the day, Though I do not know their numbers.
16I come in the might of the Master יהוה; I make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.
17Elohim, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wonders.
18And also when I am old and grey, O Elohim, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to a generation, Your might to all those who are to come.
19For Your righteousness, O Elohim, is most high, You who have done great deeds. O Elohim, who is like You?
20You who have shown me great and evil distresses, Revive me again and bring me up again From the depths of the earth.
21You increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.
22Also with the lyre I praise You For Your trustworthiness, O my Elohim! I sing to You with the lyre, O Set-apart One of Yisra’ĕl.
23My lips shout for joy when I sing to You, Even my being, which You have redeemed.
24My tongue, too, utters Your righteousness all day long; For those who have been seeking my evil Have been put to shame, Have become abashed.
1O Elohim, give the sovereign Your right-rulings, And Your righteousness to the Son of a sovereign.
2Let Him rule Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with right-ruling.
3Let the mountains bring peace to the people, And the hills, by righteousness.
4Let Him rightly rule the poor of the people, Save the children of the needy, And crush the oppressor.
5Let them fear You with the sun, shining And before the moon, in all generations.
6Let Him come down like rain upon the mown grass, Like showers, watering the earth.
7Let the righteous flourish in His days, With plenty of peace, Till the moon is no more.
8And let Him rule from sea to sea, And from the River to the ends of the earth.
9Let those dwelling in the desert bow before Him, And His enemies lick the dust.
10Let the sovereigns of Tarshish and of the isles bring presents; The sovereigns of Sheḇa and Seḇa offer gifts.
11And let all sovereigns bow down before Him, All nations serve Him.
12For He delivers the needy when he cries, And the poor, who has no helper.
13He spares the poor and needy, And He saves the lives of the needy.
14He redeems their life from oppression and from violence; And their blood is precious in His eyes.
15And He shall live, And the gold of Sheḇa be given to Him, And prayer be made for Him continually; Let Him be blessed all day long.
16Let there be plenty of grain in the earth, On the top of the mountains, Let its fruit wave like Leḇanon, And those of the city flourish like grass of the earth.
17Let His Name be forever, His Name continue before the sun; And let them bless themselves in Him; Let all nations call Him blessed.
18Blessed be יהוה Elohim, Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, He alone is doing wonders!
19And blessed be His esteemed Name forever! And let all the earth Be filled with His esteem. Amĕn and Amĕn.
20The prayers of Dawiḏ the son of Yishai are ended.
1Elohim is truly good to Yisra’ĕl, To those whose heart is clean.
2But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, My steps had nearly slipped.
3For I was envious of the boasters, When I saw the peace of the wrong-doersa.
4For death has no pangs for them, And their strength is firm.
5They are not in trouble as other men, And they are not plagued like other men.
6So pride is their necklace, The garment of violence covers them.
7Their eyes bulge from fatness; Their heart overflows with imaginations.
8They mock and speak in the evil of oppression; They speak loftily.
9They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth, saying:
10“Therefore His people return here, And waters of a filled cup are drained by them!”
11And they have said, “How could Ěl know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?”
12See, these are the wrong, And always at ease, They have amassed wealth!
13Indeed, in vain have I cleansed my heart, And washed my hands in innocence.
14For I am plagued all day long, And my reproof is every morning.
15If I had said, “Let me speak thus,” See, I would have deceived A generation of Your children.
16Yet, when I tried to understand this, It was labour to my eyes –
17Until I went into the set-apart place of Ěl; Then I perceived their end.
18Indeed, You set them in slippery places; You make them fall to ruins.
19How suddenly they are ruined! Completely swept away through destructions.
20יהוה, when You awake You despise their image, As one does a dream after waking.
21For my heart was in a ferment, And I was pierced in my kidneys.
22I was stupid and ignorant, I was like a beast toward You.
23Yet I am always with You, You took hold of my right hand.
24You lead me by Your counsel, And afterward receive me unto esteem.
25Whom do I have in the heavens? And I have desired no one besides You on earth.
26My flesh and my heart shall waste away, But Elohim is the rock of my heart And my portion forever.
27For look, those who are far from You perish; You shall cut off all those Who go whoring away from You.
28But as for me, it is good to be near Elohim. I have made my refuge in the Master יהוה, To declare all Your works.
1O Elohim, why do You forever reject us? Why does Your displeasure smoke Against the sheep of Your pasture?
2Remember Your congregation. You did purchase of old, The tribe of Your inheritance. You did redeem, This Mount Tsiyon where You have dwelt.
3Lift up Your steps to the endless ruins; The enemy has done all evil in the set-apart placea.
4Your adversaries have roared In the midst of Your meeting places; They have set up their own signs as signs.
5It seems as if one had lifted up Axes among the thick trees.
6And now all its carved work, They have broken down with axe and hammer.
7They have set fire to Your set-apart place, They have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name to the ground.
8They said in their hearts, “Let us suppress them altogether.” They burned all the meeting places of Ěl in the land.
9We do not see our signs, There is no longer a prophet, Nor any among us who knows how long.
10O Elohim, how long would the adversary reproach? Would the enemy despise Your Name forevera?
11Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? From the midst of Your bosom – end it!
12For Elohim is my Sovereign from of old, Working deliverance in the midst of the earth.
13You divided the sea by Your might; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.
14You broke the heads of Liwiathan in pieces, You made him food for the people Living in the wilderness.
15You did cleave open the fountain and the flood, You did dry up mighty rivers.
16The day is Yours, the night is Yours too, You have established the light and the sun.
17You have set all the borders of the earth, You have made summer and winter.
18Remember this: the enemy has reproached יהוה, And a foolish people has despised Your Namea.
19Do not give the being of Your turtledove to the wild beast! Do not forget the life of Your afflicted ones forever.
20Look to the covenant, For the dark places of the earth are filled With haunts of violence.
21Let not the crushed one return ashamed! Let the poor and needy praise Your Name.
22Arise, O Elohim, plead Your own cause, Remember how the foolish man reproaches You daily.
23Do not forget the voice of Your enemies, The uproar of those rising up against You increases continually.
1We shall give thanks to You, O Elohim, we shall give thanks! And Your Name is near! Your wonders shall be declared!
2“When I seize the appointed time, It is I who judge in uprightness.
3“The earth and all its inhabitants are melted; It is I who set its columns firm. Selah.
4“I said to the boasters, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wrong, ‘Do not lift up the horn.
5“Do not lift up your horn on high (You speak with a stiff neck).’ ”
6For exaltations are neither from the east, Nor from the west nor from the wilderness.
7But Elohim is the Judge – He puts down one, And exalts another.
8For a cup is in the hand of יהוה, And the wine shall foam; It is filled with a mixture, And He pours it out. All the wrong of the earth drink, Draining it to the dregs.
9But I, I declare forever, I sing praises to the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ.
10“And all the horns of the wrong I cut off; The horns of the righteous are lifted up.”
1A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up displeasure.
2The tongue of the wise makes knowledge good, But the mouth of fools pours out foolishness.
3The eyes of יהוה are in every place, Watching the evil and the good.
4A healing tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it crushes the spirit.
5A fool despises his father’s discipline, But he who heeds reproof is clever.
6The household of the righteous is a great treasure, But in the income of the wrong is trouble.
7The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, But the heart of fools is not so.
8The slaughtering of the wrong ones Is an abomination to יהוה, But the prayer of the straight is His delight.
9The way of the wrong one Is an abomination to יהוה, But He loves him who pursues righteousness.
10Discipline is grievous to him who forsakes the way; He who hates reproof dies.
11The grave and destruction are before יהוה, How much more the hearts of the sons of men.
12A scoffer does not love his reprover, Nor does he go to the wise.
13A glad heart makes good a face, But by sorrow of heart the spirit is stricken.
14The heart of the understanding one seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on folly.
15All the days of the afflicted are evil, But gladness of heart is a continual feast.
16Better is a little with the fear of יהוה, Than great treasure with trouble.
17Better is a meal of vegetables where love is, Than a fatted calf with hatred.
18A man of wrath stirs up strife, But he who is patient appeases strife.
19The way of a lazy one is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the straight is a highway.
20A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man despises his mother.
21Folly is joy to one lacking heart, But a man of understanding walks straight.
22Without counsel, plans go wrong, But by great counsellors they are established.
23A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And how good is a word spoken in its season!
24The path of life is upward for the wise, To turn away from the grave below.
25יהוה tears down the house of the proud, And He sets up the boundary of the widow.
26Evil thoughts are an abomination to יהוה, But pleasant words are clean.
27He who is greedy for gain, troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes lives.
28The heart of the righteous ponders how to answer, But the mouth of the wrong pours out evil.
29יהוה is far from the wrong ones, But He hears the prayer of the righteousa.
30The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, A good report gives marrow to the bones.
31An ear that hears the reproof of life Does dwell among the wise.
32He who ignores discipline hates himself, But he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
33The fear of יהוה is the discipline of wisdom, And before esteem is humility.
