1Rule me rightly, O יהוה, For I have walked in my integrity. And I have trusted in יהוה, without wavering.
2Examine me, O יהוה, and prove me; Try my kidneys and my heart.
3For Your kindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth.
4I have not sat with men of falsehood, Nor do I enter with pretenders.
5I have hated the assembly of evil-doers, And I do not sit with the wrong.
6I wash my hands in innocence; And I walk around Your altar, O יהוה,
7To raise a voice of thanksgiving, And to declare all Your wonders.
8יהוה, I have loved the abode of Your house, And the place where Your esteem dwells.
9Do not gather my being together with sinners, Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10In whose hands is a plot, And their right hand is filled with bribes.
11But as for me, I walk in my integrity; Redeem me and show me favour.
12My foot shall stand on a level place; In the assemblies I bless יהוה.
1יהוה is my light and my deliverance; Whom should I fear? יהוה is the refuge of my life; Whom should I dread?
2When evil-doers come against me To eat up my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, They shall stumble and fall.
3Though an army encamps against me, My heart does not fear; Though battle comes up against me, Even then I would be trusting.
4One matter I asked of יהוה – this I seek: To dwell in the House of יהוה All the days of my life, To see the pleasantness of יהוה, And to inquire in His Hĕḵal.
5For in the day of evil He hides me in His booth; In the covering of His Tent He hides me; On a rock He raises me up.
6And now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me; And I offer in His Tent with shouts of joy; I sing, yea, I sing praises to יהוה.
7Hear, O יהוה, when I cry with my voice! And show me favour, and answer me.
8To my heart You have said, “Seek My face.” Your face, יהוה, I seek.
9Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in displeasure; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O Elohim of my deliverance.
10When my father and my mother have forsaken me, Then יהוה does take me in.
11Teach me Your way, O יהוה, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12Do not give me over To the desire of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And they breathe out cruelty to me.
13What if I had not believed To see the goodness of יהוה In the land of the living!
14Wait on יהוה, be strong, And let Him strengthen your heart! Wait, I say, on יהוה!
1I cry to You, O יהוה my Rock: Do not be deaf to me! For if You are silent to me, I shall be like those who go down to the pit.
2Hear the voice of my prayers when I cry to You, When I lift up my hands Toward Your Set-apart Speaking Place.
3Do not draw me away with the wrong And with the workers of wickedness, Who speak peace to their neighbours, But evil is in their hearts.
4Give to them according to their deeds, And according to the evil of their practices; Give to them according to the work of their hands; Bring back to them what they deserve.
5Because they do not heed the works of יהוה, Nor the works of His hands, He throws them down, And does not build them up.
6Blessed be יהוה, Because He has heard the voice of my prayers!
7יהוה is my strength, and my shield; My heart has trusted in Him, and I have been helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I thank Him.
8יהוה is the strength of His people, And He is the stronghold of deliverance of His anointed.
9Save Your people, and bless Your inheritance; And be their Shepherd, and bear them up forever.
1Ascribe to יהוה, O you sons of the mighty, Ascribe to יהוה esteem and strength.
2Ascribe to יהוה the esteem of His Name; Bow yourselves to יהוה in the splendour of set-apartness.
3The voice of יהוה is over the waters; The Ěl of esteem thunders; יהוה is over many waters.
4The voice of יהוה is with power, The voice of יהוה is with greatness.
5The voice of יהוה is breaking the cedars, יהוה is breaking the cedars of Leḇanon in pieces.
6And He makes them skip like a calf, Leḇanon and Siryon like a young wild ox.
7The voice of יהוה cuts through the flames of fire.
8The voice of יהוה shakes the wilderness; יהוה shakes the Wilderness of Qaḏĕsh.
9The voice of יהוה makes the deer give birth, And strips the forests bare; And in His Hĕḵal everyone says, “Esteem!”
10יהוה sat enthroned at the Flood, And יהוה sits as Sovereign forever.
11יהוה gives strength to His people; יהוה blesses His people with peace.
1I exalt You, O יהוה, for You have drawn me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.
2יהוה my Elohim, I have cried to You, And You have healed me.
3יהוה, You brought me up from the grave; You have kept me alive, from going down into the pit.
4Sing praise to יהוה, You kind ones of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His Set-apartness.
5For His displeasure is for a moment, His delight is for life; Weeping might last for the night, But joy comes in the morning.
6As for me, I have said in my ease, “Never would I be shaken!”
7יהוה, in Your good pleasure You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, and I was troubled.
8I cried out to You, O יהוה; And to יהוה I prayed:
9“What gain is there in my blood, When I go down to the pit? Would dust praise You? Would it declare Your truth?
10“Hear, O יהוה, and show me favour; יהוה, be my helper!”
11You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have torn off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
12So that esteem might praise You and not be silent. O יהוה my Elohim, I thank You forever.
1My son, if you: Have become guarantor for your friend, Have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger,
2Have been snared by the words of your own mouth, Have been caught by the words of your mouth –
3Do this at once, my son, and deliver yourself, For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go, humble yourself, and urge your friend.
4Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.
5Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter’s hand, And like a bird from the hand of the trapper.
6Go to the ant, you lazy one! See her ways and be wise,
7Which, having no commander, overseer or ruler,
8Provides her supplies in the summer, Gathers her food in the harvest.
9How long would you lie down, O lazy one? When do you arise from your sleep?
10A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to lie down;
11And your poverty shall come like a prowler, And your need as an armed man.
12A man of Beliya‛al, a wicked man, Walks with a perverse mouth,
13Winks with his eyes, shuffles his feet, Points with his fingers;
14Perverseness is in his heart, Plotting evil at all times, He sends out strife.
15Therefore his calamity comes suddenly; Instantly he is broken, And there is no healing.
16These six matters יהוה hates, And seven are an abomination to Him:
17A proud look, A lying tongue, And hands shedding innocent blood,
18A heart devising wicked schemes, Feet quick to run to evil,
19A false witness breathing out lies, And one who causes strife among brothers.
20My son, watch over your father’s command, And do not forsake the Torah of your mother.
21Bind them on your heart always; Tie them around your neck.
22When you are walking about, it leads you; When you lie down, it guards you. And when you have woken up, It talks to you.
23For the command is a lamp, And the Torah a lighta, And reproofs of discipline a way of life,
24To guard you against an evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a strange woman.
25Do not desire her prettiness in your heart, Neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
26For because of a whore One is brought to a crust of bread. And an adulteress hunts a precious life.
27Would a man take fire to his bosom, And his garments not be burned?
28Would a man walk on hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?
29So is he who goes in to his neighbour’s wife; None who touches her goes unpunished.
30They do not despise a thief If he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is starving.
31Yet if he is caught he repays sevenfold; He gives all the wealth of his house.
32He who commits adultery with a woman lacks heart; He who does it destroys his own life.
33He finds smiting and shame, And his reproach is not wiped away.
34For jealousy enrages a man, And he does not spare in the day of vengeance.
35He does not regard any ransom, Nor accept your bribe, however great!
